Adult Services

Many autism support programs end at age 21. Judevine Center for Autism recognizes that the adult with autism and his or her family have many years ahead of them. Judevine offers a variety of customized opportunities for adults with autism spectrum disorders aged 21 years and older. Services are individualized to match the personal dreams and desires of each adult and are linked to community opportunities.

Supported Employment
Our Supported Employment Program reflects our belief in the abilities of people with autism spectrum disorders, when provided the proper structure and support. We have found that, in a good job match and with job coaching, people with autism spectrum disorders – even those with severely challenging behaviors – can be successfully employed in the community. Services include assessment, job development, job coaching, and follow-along. The anticipated outcomes for persons in the Supported Employment Program are to work at jobs of their choice that match their skills and interests, to develop working and social relationships with their co-workers, to develop natural supports at work, to make changes or upgrade their employment when they desire to do so, and to enhance and educate the community by the contributions of those receiving Supported Employment.  The long list of employers is continually growing, and currently includes: Busch Stadium, Cash’s Scrap Metal, Taco Bell, University City- City Hall, and Yellow Key Insurance.

Community Based Services
Community Based Services provide direct instruction to adults with autism spectrum disorders in the community. Individuals are provided support to create daily functional routines within their natural communities. This service offers recreation opportunities and training in accessing community resources including shopping, dining out, banking and participation at various recreation facilities.  As well, volunteer opportunities are a major aspect of this service.  Such opportunities include the Humane Society, Operation Food Search, American Red Cross and Good Shepherd School.  This is a flexible and creative service to meet the personal choices of the individuals served.

EXCELL
EXCELL is a transitional day treatment program for adults with severely challenging behaviors, including autism. The program supports individuals who have lost, or who are in danger of losing, their programming at other sites. EXCELL accepts and serves people who no one else can or will serve due to the nature of their challenging difficulties. At EXCELL, program is focused on the development of communication skills and positive behavior.  The environment helps foster and reinforce expectations and requirements that are necessary for success in any future job or program placement.  Training takes place both on site and in the community for generalization of acquired skills.
