Training Services

Training is at the heart of every Judevine program and service. Our training is founded on the practical, and based on techniques that have been proven to work time and again over the past several decades. Training at Judevine Center for Autism is based in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), within a social exchange framework.

Families and professionals need specialized training to work effectively with children and adults with autism spectrum disorders. Parents and professionals from nearby, across the nation and abroad participate in Judevine training programs. The Judevine training program works. It has been replicated many times nationwide.

Parent Training
No one automatically knows how to parent a child with autism. In fact, what usually works with “typical” children doesn’t work with children with autism spectrum disorders. While Parent Training may take many forms, parents and their child with an autism spectrum disorder will typically come to Judevine Center for Autism for an intensive three-week training program that merges classroom instruction with guided observation, one-on-one sessions with their child, and coaching. Parent training is not just about teaching skills to a child, but teaching the parents how to best understand their child and the nature of his or her disability. Judevine parent training teaches strategies that parents can use to become more effective in parenting their child with an autism spectrum disorder. Perhaps most importantly, Parent Training teaches a new “thinking set” through which effective strategies can be applied.

Professional Training
Judevine Center for Autism provides Professional Training to a variety of professionals in the field, including teachers, therapists, and administrators. The goal of Judevine training is to deliver an understanding of autism spectrum disorders and a new “thinking set” through which positive support in behavior development is used with the individual with autism spectrum disorder, regardless of circumstance. Professional Training, like Parent Training, consists of both classroom instruction and practicum experience. The Training combines classroom education with guided observation, and coaching.

Master Training
Judevine Center for Autism offers a program to “train the trainer”, enabling other professionals and organizations to deliver the same effective training program which has been developed by Judevine and used effectively for more than 30 years. Master Training is highly interactive, with lots of practice and constructive expert feedback to help you succeed as a trainer.

Consultation

Judevine Center for Autism provides consultation to a variety of social service, health care and educational professionals across a variety of settings. Often, consultation consists of observation followed by workshops by Judevine staff. Consultation may emphasize instruction in the nature of autism spectrum disorders, and how the individual with the spectrum disorder presents with the disorder. Consultation may emphasize the instruction of effective strategies for instruction of persons with autism spectrum disorders. Consultations are successful in strengthening continuity across various programs and settings.
